If you drove past Mansell Street and San Bruno Avenue this morning, you may have noticed a crowd in the median–these were many of our neighbors, along with city workers and Mayor Mark Farrell, planting the Portola’s newest garden! We now have a beautiful, green entrance fitting our Garden District identity at the southern end of San Bruno Avenue, filled with native and drought tolerant plants. This new green space is the perfect complement to Portola’s other main entrance: the garden in the median at San Bruno’s north end around the base of the Snake Mural (affectionately known as the “snake pit”). Thank you, Mayor Farrell!
Keep your eyes open for the next new public, green space in the Portola–the now-under-construction “pocket park” in the alley next to Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Many thanks to Arthur Koch for sending these photos our way!
